UK Social Care Sector: New Visa Rules

To alleviate the pressure on the social care sector due to the pandemic, the UK government expanded the Health & Care Worker Visa to include care workers, care assistants and home care workers.

This visa change offers a 50% visa reduction fee, an exemption from the Immigration Health Surcharge and a reduction in the visa processing time from 8 weeks to 3 weeks. The visa changes took effect on 15 February 2022 and will be in place for a minimum of 12 months.

This offers a great opportunity for thousands of overseas care workers to be recruited within the UK’s social care workforce.
